Access Dance provide workshops in dance and movement that guide people in (re)gaining a sense of self fulfilment and independence.

We pride ourselves in making dance an inclusive, interactive art accessible to all. Our dance workshops are unique in the way they combine physical, emotional and intellectual aspects that help establish individual and group identity. They promote skills in collaboration and negotiation as well as an ability to seek creative solutions. At Henshaws College of Arts and Crafts, Knaresborough, students with visual and physical impairments have experienced the freedom of moving in a safe, structured environment, increasing their sense of self and ability to live independently.

We are passionate about dance and, in line with current research, believe that dancing improves the quality of life for people who experience mental health problems, serious illness, or stressful life events. If you have recently experienced either of these then dance may be one of the choices you make in your route to recovery. Contact us to discuss which of our programmes would suit your current needs.

Access Dance specialises in making dance accessible for people with SEN and mental health issues. The company recently received the UnLimited Catalyst Award for Social Entrepreneurship for a pioneering project with mental health service users in York.
